Mercy Flight Western New York is a not-for-profit 501(c) (3) corporation and relies on contributions from their supporters. While third-party payers reimburse them a portion of each flight’s true cost, they still rely on additional funding from individual contributions, corporate donations, community fundraisers, and community grants. All donations are tax-deductible where nearly $0.89 of every dollar is used directly toward program expenses.

Mercy Flight Western New York is an independent provider of emergency and non-emergency air and ground medical transport and supporting services; ensuring rapid, safe and cost effective delivery of expert response teams. Established in 1981, they have safely completed more than 25,000 patient missions over the last 35 years. They provide around the clock care servicing all of Western New York, Northwestern Pennsylvania, Canada and beyond.

Certified by New York State, they strive to provide uncompromising professional clinical excellence to the communities we serve. With their headquarters located in Buffalo and several bases strategically placed throughout Western New York, they are mission ready to handle any situation that presents itself. They would not be successful in doing so without the support of our local fire, police and emergency services partners. With their highly trained and certified professionals, state of the art medical equipment and reliable fleet, they corner the EMS industry with advanced provider skills, training and the latest lifesaving techniques making them unparalleled in service standards.

They perform their lifesaving services without regard to their patients’ insurance status or ability to pay. As a result, Mercy Flight forgave more than $1.6 million last year (an average of $1,420 per mission) for care provided to uninsured or under-insured patients.
